Miniature painting as an art form began in the medieval period and flourished since then for thousand of years. Miniature art has been popular as in the religious manuscript writing and illustration. This art of manuscript writing and illustration has been outdated and came to a stage of decline by the invention of printing and publishing industry since the Renaissance time.
Until now, and presently, due to the emerging varieties of new themes and styles in visual arts, miniature painting has almost become ‘a kind of craft in extinction’. Many miniature painters through the ages were unknown to us nowadays. We may know of relatively very few names of miniature artist, and one of them is Nicholas Hilliard.
My series of acrylic painting entitled “Miniature”, in abstract symbolic approach, express my contemplation the evolving and displacement of heaven, paradise, earth and the human world in time and space. I apply golden means, contrasts and counter balance in the compositional structure.
